Academic co-op · Immersive prototype
VR Experience System
A memory-based VR concept: real places rebuilt as 3D environments, guided by an AI companion.

Concept flow of the experience
A person's memory is scanned or uploaded. A therapist adjusts it. Emotional parameters shape an AI-generated space, which becomes a personalized VR session with an AI companion as guide.
The project
A concept for immersive, memory-based spaces. I built a system that turns Gaussian Splatting scans into realistic 3D environments in Unreal Engine, supported by an AI companion that guides the person through the experience.
The objective
Explore whether immersive storytelling can make memory feel inhabitable and support feel personal, designing for comfort and care rather than attention.
My role
Creative systems design, technical research and experience design.
Approach
- Photoreal environment reconstruction using Gaussian Splatting
- An AI companion with a backstory, memory and tone
- Configurable experience templates so a therapist or user can adjust a session
Output
- A completed VR demo built in Unreal Engine
- Sample experiences (pictured above)
- The experience flow and template concept
Context
Academic co-op project. It's a design prototype, not a clinical product.
What it shows
Comfort working in Unreal Engine and with emerging tech such as Gaussian Splatting and conversational AI, and the ability to turn a complex technical idea into something people can step into. That's useful for immersive brand experiences and interactive campaigns.
