About

One person who can think it up and make it.

Who I am

I'm Matheus Camilleri, a creative director and maker. I trained in Multimedia Design and Development at Humber Polytechnic, and I work on my own, taking on creative direction, digital production and the technology that connects them.

Background

My work has moved from an academic VR project in Unreal Engine, to paid brand strategy for a client, to building my own media brand, Mango Salad. Each taught me something different: how to build an experience, how to work for a client, and how to run a creative idea as a system.

Philosophy

A good idea should survive being made. I design the concept and the system around it, so ads, sites and content all feel like they come from one world instead of a pile of separate deliverables.

Working with clients

  1. Goals first. I start with what the business needs the creative to do.
  2. Concepts before production. You see routes early, before polish.
  3. Clear scope. You know what's included, what isn't, and what happens next.

A multidisciplinary view

Creative, business and technology are usually handled by different people who rarely talk. I work across all three, which means fewer handoffs and creative decisions that account for how things get built, shipped and sold.

Beyond client work

Mango Salad is the media brand I'm building for undiscovered artists. I also paint and make digital art, and I love making VFX and music or art videos, building worlds and directing creative.
